To do it or to write about it, that is the question
Despite my previously boast-worthy abilities to multitask, these days it seems I can’t quite do it all at once. I often have a choice to make between being present in what’s happening on the one hand, and writing, photographing or otherwise recording it on the other. (I’m in awe of those social media gurus that live it and record it all at the same time.)
I haven’t yet honed the skill of doing both simultaneously and typically choose to immerse myself in the moment and get creative in the telling afterwards, if necessary. Thus, the month and a half gap between posts!
Working on it…
In that vein — and in my own special long-after-the-fact-and-in-bullet-form fashion — I thought I’d hit a few highlights here of the regular-life adventures I’ve been enjoying lately and catch you and me both up in the process.
So here we go… a quick recap of the latest:
Enjoyed a rare hike with Zane at Hewlett Gulch followed by a drive to Red Feather Lakes
Took house-warming gifts to Cole on move-in day to his new, ultra-cool house in Boulder
Sent Zane off to his first day of 10th grade
Got back down to business (my new business, “Caper”) after a summer slow-down. Had our first business cards printed and made a new tech “hire” (a.k.a: said “yes, please” to a gift from God in the form of a tech genius offering to invest his time and expertise in the biz)
Passed many beautiful mornings paddle boarding at Horsetooth Reservoir
Read my “Bellyring” story for an audience at DimeStories
Ran my 3rd Fortitude 10K race (pictured above) -- okay, more of a pathetically slow jog, but something after coming back from a rough, long, unable-to-run illness
Multiplied our Life Group – i.e. sent out ½ of our group to start a new LG
Made our last trip to the orthodontist ever -- Zane’s braces off!
Said yes to a new job
Ate strawberries from my own garden
Celebrated Christian Cole’s 20th birthday
Celebrated Zane’s 16th birthday
Celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary with a fall leaf drive, a hike to Mitchell Lake at 10k feet, a quick trip through Boulder to see Cole and Mex & margs at Mojo Taqueria in Lyons
Hiked Arthur’s Rock at sunrise with my Life Group and celebrated with a big breakfast including MUCH bacon
It seems regular life is full of adventure!
One more thing I’m learning this year: as I embrace adventure more and more — saying yes to new things, overcoming obstacles, seeking out activities that bring joy and inviting others along — it becomes a natural part of my life, embedded in my every-day. Adventure just comes my way.
With that in mind, I think I’m done (for now) writing about it, ready to go experience it instead once again. Until next time…
